The story behind the snowflakes

“Jason and I originally met on a body modification oriented website in 2006. It wasn’t our love of tattoos that originally brought us together, per se it was my computer strangely enough. Jason came to my rescue in one of the non site related tech forums and we became fast friends.”

After his death in 2009 Stephanie felt that a memorial tattoo was a fitting tribute to remember her friend. While already having previously decided on the quote ”’Til death reunites us” she was searching for something more to not only make it her own, but to add something special to represent how truly unique and special her friend really is.

It wasn’t until a text message conversation that the inspiration was born. “It was quite random, I had said to a friend that I wasn’t a freak, I was unique! ‘OK there snowflake’ was his reply and at first it made zero sense to me. Then it dawned on me, snowflakes are unique and reported to be one of a kind. Very much like Jason.”

Aside from adding two snowflakes, one that is fully intact and the other partially melting to appear as if it’s shedding a tear the alt code for the heart symbol was added (< 3) to represent Jason’s love of programming.

This tattoo resides front and center on Stephanie’s chest, a place that she didn’t originally plan on getting tattooed.

Snowflakes represent how truly unique, beautiful and special we all are. Although delicate, when bonded together, snowflakes can become something of a force to be reckoned with. Very much like people.

They say everything happens for a reason and Stephanie firmly believes that even though Michael the sender of the text’s is no longer a part of her life; had that text message not happened the inspiration may have never been born.

So the snowflake motif is here to stay and serve as a reminder that we are all unique, special and beautiful in our own way.
